Our upcoming PLME Whole Physician Panel will spotlight two Brown physicians, Dr. Julia Katarincic and Dr. B. Star Hampton, leading surgeons and teachers in their respective fields of orthopedics and gynecology, both of whom incorporate advocacy work and international medical service as integral parts of their careers.

As a specialist in pediatric hand surgery, the current chair of the Department of Orthopedics and chief of Hand Surgery at Brown, Dr. Katarincic has spearheaded numerous medical missions to Honduras, treating children with congenital deformities and other orthopedic conditions. Dr. Hampton, a urogynecologic surgeon and Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at the Warren Alpert Medical School, serves as the team leader for a group of physicians who travel annually to sub-Saharan Africa to perform obstetric fistula repair and education.
