PLME advising is grounded in a holistic understanding of each student as an individual, encouraging exploration, self-reflection, and intentional decision-making. From the moment they arrive on campus, PLME students are paired with a dedicated advising dean—all of whom are practicing physicians—who provide personalized mentorship throughout their four undergraduate years. First-year students also benefit from the support of Meiklejohn peer advisors, contributing to a collaborative and encouraging academic environment.
PLME students also benefit from a strong and engaged network of alumni who support them through programming offered across the academic year. In collaboration with the Brown Center for Career Exploration, students may also be paired with alumni for winter and summer break mentoring programs.
This robust advising framework empowers students to navigate their educational paths with clarity, confidence, and purpose. As members of the broader Brown community, PLME students also have access to a rich network of support of academic deans, peer counselors, and faculty who offer guidance in classrooms, laboratories, office hours, and across a wide range of campus events and activities.
