Financial aid for PLME students is administered separately for the undergraduate and medical school phases of the program. During the undergraduate years, students work with Brown’s Office of Financial Aid, while support for the medical school years is provided by the Warren Alpert Medical School Office of Financial Aid. Both offices are committed to offering clear guidance and individualized support to help students and families navigate the cost of a PLME education.
Students applying to the PLME should be aware that the financial aid policies differ between Brown’s undergraduate College and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
While eligible Brown undergraduates may receive loan-free financial aid, the Medical School’s financial aid model applies a base loan first when assessing need, meaning financial aid during the medical school years includes educational loans.
International students applying to the PLME should be aware of the Medical School policy and note that financial aid will not be available to them during their medical years of study. This restriction applies only to candidates who are neither U.S. citizens nor U.S. permanent residents; students with U.S. permanent residency (Green Card) status or U.S. dual citizenship remain eligible to apply for aid.
