Dr. Manirafasha is an emergency and critical care physician at King Faisal Hospital, Rwanda and serves as Head of Department and Faculty at Africa Health Science University (AHSU). Dr. Manirafasha is interested in research on emergency care improvement, education, and patient advocacy and is a member and secretary of Rwanda Emergency Care Association (RECA).
Dr. Karim mentored Dr. Manirafasha during his residency, and facilitated Basic Emergency Care (BEC) training for emergency staff, nurses and medical teams in Rwanda. Their work helped in the establishment of the emergency department at the hospital, with Dr. Karim guiding curriculum development of the emergency and critical care program at AHSU.
Dr. Martin conducts numerous projects in Rwanda, including nationwide initiatives focused on trauma training at district hospitals and first aid/cardiopulmonary resuscitation training for the Rwanda National Police. He has several ongoing research studies in Rwanda examining topics such as the association of rainfall patterns with the spread of infectious diseases and the utilization of a smartphone application to estimate patient hemoglobin levels.
Drs. Karim and Martin are long-time collaborators of Dr. Manirafasha.
