PLME students access a wide range of research opportunities, supported by dedicated funding, faculty mentorship, and Brown’s extensive research network

PLME students benefit from a wide range of research opportunities that foster intellectual exploration and early engagement in scholarly work. Through the PLME Summer Research Assistantship (SRA), they receive funding to pursue research in the sciences, social sciences, or humanities under the guidance of a Brown faculty mentor. Students may also take part in specialized initiatives like the Emerging Infectious Disease and HIV Scholars Program (H-EIDS). In addition to PLME-specific programs, they have access to the broader network of research opportunities at Brown, including fellowships, lab positions, and independent study options across disciplines.

PLME Summer Research Assistantship

Summer Research Assistantships (SRAs) are made available to students in Brown University’s Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) annually on a competitive basis.

Emerging Infectious Disease and HIV Scholars Program (H-EIDS)

Emerging infectious diseases are a growing threat and present major challenges to communities worldwide. The Emerging Infectious Disease and HIV Scholars Program (H-EIDS) program seeks to develop a physician-scientist workforce focused on clinical research to inform practical responses to HIV and associated infections over the next decades.

SPRINT Fellowships

SPRINT Fellowships are funded experiences intended to catalyze and deepen undergraduate student learning and skill development through internships, research, and teaching.

BrownConnect+

BrownConnect+ links students, alumni, parents and friends to extend learning beyond the classroom and promote mentoring and professional growth long past graduation.
