Before You Apply

The goal of the PLME is enrichment, not acceleration. PLME students complete their program of studies in eight years (though some decide to extend their education by electing to take a gap year, or by pursuing a master's degree, the MD-PhD program, or through other individual pursuits).

A PLME applicant is, by definition, an applicant to Brown. Each PLME applicant is considered an applicant to both the College and the PLME.  Applicants may apply either Early Decision OR Regular Decision.

Visiting Brown

Applicants are encouraged to learn about Brown as an institution. There is no specific PLME tour or Medical School tour at Brown.

Visit Brown

Brown offers a variety of programming designed to help you learn more about the academic experience, campus life, financial aid and the admission process.

Tuition

Tuition for the first four years of the program is the same as that of the College. Tuition for the Medical School is somewhat higher than the college tuition, but consistent with other private medical schools. Tuition is determined each year by vote of the Brown Corporation.

We encourage prospective and current PLME students to familiarize themselves with the Warren Alpert Medical School Office of Financial Aid's policies which differ from that of the undergraduate office. At the medical school, need is first met with a combination of loans called the base loan. In addition, those with demonstrated need beyond the initial base loan are eligible for scholarship monies. Further information can be found from the link in the cost page below.
